About Me
Hi, I’m Rowan. I’m a Photographer & Videographer currently based in Manchester (UK).
I grew up in a small isolated village on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, allowing me to develop an appreciation for the beauty and muted peace in between life’s busiest moments. As a teenager I picked up a camera for the first time to capture and make sense of our confusing natural world, and later, through struggles with OCD, I opted to begin writing as a means of making sense of the confusing world inside my mind too. I like to believe that I have carried this contemplative view of life with me throughout all of my work, opening the door to the understandings and stories of others that would have otherwise remained untold.
From 2017-2020 I ventured to Manchester, where I still live, in order to complete a Film Production degree. Here I gathered all of the skills and understandings needed to translate my love of photography into video too, coming away with a 1st class degree and experience on a number of low-budget productions. During this time I also worked as a Photographer on the Coronation Street Tour, providing my first taste of working on a set environment. From here, I completed an apprenticeship with Baltic Apprenticeships, earning a distinction in Digital Marketing. With these qualifications under my belt, as well as thorough training using tools like Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and Lightroom, I felt well capable of working as a Videographer for some big industry names.
My experience has since included shooting in both set and on-location environments, as well as editing a vast assortment of visual formats. These include short films, mini-docs, podcasts, social media content, and photography. During my time at CubeCraft Games, I put a huge emphasis on video content, growing their social media following by roughly 40% to 600,000 followers across all channels. One such focus of mine was trailers for their upcoming games, with each video receiving between 10,000 to 400,000 views, while some of the TikToks I created reached up to 800,000 views. At Radio.co, I oversee video and audio output across several different channels. Since joining the company, I have nearly double their subscriber count on YouTube, and introduced a popular TikTok profile and several podcast series. I also regularly assist on podcast production at their sister company; Cue Podcasts, and perform some freelance work for the likes of Simportal at their weekend.
